MJD, short: Park

Eyes squinted and shoulders hunched, the sun beamed on his face like a blush of golden paint. For a moment he was happy, watching the elderly walk hand in hand – or hand on cane. His dog by his side looking at him in admiration, like a general in high command. A walk a day keeps the dark at bay. Daffodils blooming in a random pink and white. The slurry of muck, clung to his boots like fresh glue. Nothing can interfere with this day – no mud. Contentment was plentiful and stillness instilled.
